The Kiss

Darkness begins to fade at the dawning of the day,
The first rays of sunlight begin to kiss the horizon
Hues of red and pink dance up from the earth as if on display.
In the distance birds begin to provide the music for this dance of daybreak.
The fog that was resting on the waters begins it journey to join the assemblage in the sky.
It is the beginning of the next day of my life,
Our lips part as we smile into each other’s eyes.

New Perspective

The sound of your voice resonates in my heart
The radiance of your smile shines through my deepest depression
The glimmer in your eyes lights the darkest crevices of my soul
And the feel of your embrace warms me in my coldest moments
How am I to ever look at the world as I have before?

The Performance of A Life

As I stand presently absent in the midst of concentrated confusion,
Listening to the chaos of poetry evolving in my brain
Looking out in awe of an ovation of an empty theatre
At the close of an Opera of One
My eyes observe the sea of vacant seats
That have been filled by people with more important things to do
An afterthought of what could have been
Maybe even what should have been
While performing in the here and now
But realizing that in the end
My perspective, my happiness, my LIFE
Are about my decisions, thoughts and dreams
And not those of the crowd.

She is...

She is perfect for me…..
When she walks into the room my entire being lights up
It’s not the new outfit she has on,
Or even the way her hair falls perfectly across her face.
It’s not her cute way of walking,
A confident strut mixed with an air of clumsiness.
Some people would say it’s her eyes,
Because they are so beautiful and sweet.
Others would say it’s her smile, which is contagious without a doubt.
My friends would claim it’s her personality,
Which could win over the most chilled of hearts.
But truth is these are all parts of what make her great,
But they are not why she is so perfect for me.
We are perfect because we get each other on every level,
Our humor, our love of music, our thoughts, even our choice in drinks.
She is everything I could ever want or need,
She is perfect for me,
But she belongs to him instead.

Conspiracy Theory

I wrote this in response to a friends challenge to come up with a Conspiracy Theory that connected the Birthdays of Martin Luther King and Elvis Presley seeing as they are 7 days apart....

From the time Dr. King was born (1929) to the time Elvis died (1977) is a period of 48 years. A number that is divisible by 3, a number of importance in the Bible. Dr. King lived to be 39, while Elvis lived to be 42, a difference of 3 years. During the years they mutually shared America was involved in 3 major wars and had 7 different Presidents. Again the number 3 and the number 7 which shares an important value in the Bible like 3. The Trilateral Commission viewed Elvis as an ambassador to help foster in Pro-American sentiment by using his musical and performance talents in a way that other businessmen could not do. The Illuminati viewed such an act as a threat because they viewed a strong America as a problem to their influence behind the scenes. America having the support of other European countries while beginning to move toward uniting races together under the leadership of Dr. King was more than they could fathom. Such an America would be unable to control. Upon hearing about the executive order of Harry S. Truman to create a committee called the Majestic 12 the Illuminati felt they had no choice but to try and act to stop the American movement toward greater power. The Majestic 12 though created to investigate UFO activity was nothing more than a front to cover up covert spy technology that was being used around the world. The Illuminati knew then, as we all do now, that musicians like Elvis, The Beatles, The Doors, The Who, and Janis Joplin’s band Big Brother and Holding Company, were nothing more than spies that used their influence and ease of access around the world to gather intelligence for the CIA. So, the Illuminati had Dr. King, Elvis, and even John Lennon (Who was killed 3 years after Elvis had died. The number 3 again) assassinated in order to try and stop the growth of American Society and Culture. So in summation the Illuminati is behind all deaths of any historical or political nature.

This was added by Mr. Jones later and it was too funny not to include.....

Matthew..."Overactive imagination" has 21 letters in it...which, when divided by 3, is 7. There were 37 letters in your last comment, 3 and 7 again. 3 + 7 is ten, which leaves us with two 10s. 3 if we count the 3 major wars and 7 presidents that you mentioned earlier. 10x10x10 is 1000. 37 minus the 21 is 16...which you also get from dividing 48 by 3, as you mentioned above. 37 letters in your comment times the 48 years between the deaths of Elvis and Dr. King gives you 1776, the year of our independence! The letters in your full name also add to 776. 1000+776 is 1776 again...which must mean...:::dramatically takes off sunglasses::: You've been working for the Illuminati all along!......

The War We Deserve.....

The main topic that brought me into a state of contemplation came from a couple of quotes of Jean- Paul Sartre…. “We have the war we deserve” and “Thus I am this war...” I spent a lot of my free time deliberating this quote. Am I really the product of a series of my very own choices? Is it possible that nothing, outside of my own decisions, delivered me here to this place? In these circumstances? In this state of health? It was a remarkable idea to say the least. It couldn’t be true…..could it? Upon deeper rumination I began to believe that it is not only a possibility, but almost a certainty. When I examined that path that I have walked for the last thirty plus years I noticed different stages in my life that showed results from decisions that had been made either by myself or by my parents in the earliest stages of my life.  But at this point every decision I make I am solely culpable. During each stage I can see where the decisions of my parents, and me, led to experiences in my life. I have made thousands upon thousands of decisions in my life, and if I am honest I can look at the path that my life has carved through time and see where each of them have been influential in, if not directly, determining the course that moved me to the next decision. I can try and look at some events and say my choices had no relevance on a certain situation, that it was out of my control, but the truth is that there was a series of decisions that put me in that place, at that specific time…..Post reflection shows that when this questionable event took place I was exactly where I had decided to be. Could I control what happened at the moment? Probably not, but I had decided to be there non-the-less prior to the uncontrollable situation. Then I decided how to react and cope with what happened. So in short, “Thus I am this war…” or should I say that each and every one of us has “the war that we deserve?” We all are responsible for our lives. We cannot lay blame to our parents, our circumstances or our environments. If we are conscious beings, if we are capable of making decisions, then we are responsible for everything that happens to us. The flip side to this is that we also are capable of creating a world where we have the things that we truly want. It may take measures that seem tough or sacrifices that seem great, but in the end if it’s worth having it’s worth those things, right? Some people question my decisions, my choices, to give up some of my freedom and even bigger my income. They even take it as a reason to look down on me, but what they don’t realize is that I am determined to have more than I used to. I am not content with “getting by” or “settling.” I will have not only the war, but the rewards I deserve….not because of what others expect of me, but because of what I expect of myself. Think what you want, but in the end the only opinion that matters is the one I have of myself and likewise the same applies to you. Do you have what you deserve? If not, what is stopping you? Remember only you can live your life, so be sure your actually living it for “You.”

Nietzsche

Just an excerpt from a paper I wrote recently...

Nietzsche tries to find comedy in a world where seriousness is the overwhelming view of what an adult is engulfed and surrounded by. Why has the world resorted to such a mechanical and mundane view of things? I cannot help but believe that if God created all the things of heaven and earth and even modeled human beings after himself; doesn’t that include humor since it is something that all children seem to possess? Is it that hard to believe that if you hold on to a faith that declares that a supreme being formed everything that is seen, and all the supernatural beings that humans cannot see, that he did not create humor as well? Is it just because it is not expressly written that on the seventh day God rested, and laughed, that he does not laugh? If you really think about it, why wouldn’t God have a sense of humor? Just take a moment and look at some of the animals around the world, the platypus, the blob fish or the aye-aye. God has to have a sense of humor, but man has decided that religious belief and comedy are not allowed together. Religion is SERIOUS, you must be SERIOUS when talking to God, you must be SERIOUS when you’re in church. And don’t get me wrong, I believe that there needs to be some degree of sincerity and respectfulness in a church service, but I also believe it cannot be completely overrun by them either. I believe on the seventh day God looked at all he created and had a good laugh knowing some of the stupid things we were going to do…… I once read a report that said that people with a positive attitude in life increase their life expectancy over those who do not share the same positive outlook. So why not be happy, find the jokes that are constantly floating through our cosmos, see what others are missing, and search for a hint of laughter in each and every phase of your life!
